good customer service… or extravagant come on?
so the other night i hung out with a friend i haven’t seen in over two years. we went to go see talib kweli and met for sushi before the show. at the time we were the only ones in the restaurant and the waiter/possible owner was friendly and let us sit wherever and did all the waiter stuff that we expected. and his co-worker/possible brother (they really did look the same — you had to be there i guess) was also pleasant doing the waitstaff thing for us. but somewhere in the first 10 minutes they suddenly started coming over and talking to me literally every time i turned around. we were there for almost an hour and i would say for easily 45 minutes there was not a moment that went by that at least one of them was coming over to talk to me. not to “us”, but just to me. it started with talking about living in los angeles, then moved on to texas, then other subjects, then they started questioning me about their computers. my friend kept mentioning that we had a lot of catching up to do but they just sailed right over her and kept coming back to me. at one point she said it was “like coming up to a doctor after hours and complaining about your health problems”. she told me later that if she didn’t know any better she would have thought they were hitting on me. i don’t know if i would say that, but it was truly truly disturbing how they wouldn’t leave me alone. even when we got up to leave they wanted to know all about my digital camera i was carrying with me and we practically had to break our way out of there just to get them to stop talking.
the food was good, but i’m not sure i’d ever go back there again. at least, not without an elaborate disguise….
